Teeth Whitening

One of the first things people notice about you is your smile. Did you know that if your smile reveals bright, healthy teeth, people will perceive you as happy, successful, and fun to be around?

It’s true! In 2007 Crest commissioned a study in which over 1,000 adults were asked about stained teeth and personal appearance. The majority of respondents said that an individual’s appearance (in particular, clean white teeth) was important to personal and financial success. 52% of the respondents also said that the way a person looked had an impact on their perceived trustworthiness.

Our amazing whitening treatments will allow you to make the best impression possible. We are happy to offer you options that are affordable, fast-acting, and produce spectacular results. In many instances our teeth whitening treatments can brighten your smile by several shades within a single visit.

What causes tooth discolouration?

There are many contributors to tooth staining. They include:

  • Age
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Some types of medication
  • Smoking or chewing tobacco
  • Drinking beverages such as coffee, tea, and red wine

What types of teeth whitening systems are available?

We have different systems from you to choose from. They range from take-home kits to in-office procedures, and some treatments combine both. Your dentist will review the options with you and help you select one that suits your teeth, lifestyle, and budget.

Enlighten B1

This advanced tooth whitening system produces dazzling results. The process involves:

  • Taking impressions of your teeth for custom-made whitening trays. They generally take two weeks to prepare. In the interim, your dentist will ask that you use a serum that de-sensitises your teeth in preparation for the treatment.
  • When your whitening trays arrive, your dentist will check their fit and give you instructions on how to wear them throughout the course of the treatment.
  • You will wear the trays for two weeks, each time filling them with whitening gel. During the second week the gel concentration will increase.
  • After the two weeks are up, your dentist will do a 40-minute whitening treatment in the office.

After this final treatment, you will be required to follow a minimal maintenance regime that includes visiting your dentist every other month. He or she will explain these particulars during your treatment review appointment.

Daywhite and NiteWhite home kits

After this final treatment, you will be required to follow a minimal maintenance regime that includes visiting your dentist every other month. He or she will explain these particulars during your treatment review appointment.

Because it is the only home treatment that contains amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP), DayWhite and NiteWhite will preserve enamel, lower sensitivity, and improve the overall shine and smoothness of your teeth. This is a sharp contrast to some over-the-counter whitening products, which contain substandard bleaching agents and even mild abrasives or acids.

Zoom Whitening

Zoom WhiteSpeed is an advanced teeth whitening system. A light-activated whitening gel that eliminates stains, it has an intensity setting that can be adjusted to ensure patient comfort during each treatment. It also has desensitisers that can protect your tooth enamel and manage sensitivity levels.

This whitening system consists of the following steps:

  • Any plaque lining your gums will be removed
  • Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth to create a customised tray that resembles a thin mouth guard
  • A protective rubber covering will be placed over your gums to protect them from the gel’s bleaching agent
  • The whitening gel is carefully applied to your teeth while the inside of your tooth tray is coated in a whitening serum
  • The tray is fitted in place over your teeth and a special light is applied, activating the bleaching agent

The whitening gel is a specially formulated and pH balanced hydrogen peroxide that reacts to the blue light by removing discolouration and stains from your teeth. The Zoom Whitening system also includes a home kit to help you maintain your new, brighter smile.

Which treatment will my dentist use?

Before recommending any teeth whitening treatment, your dentist will examine your teeth to check for any cavities or decay. (The bleaching agents can cause pain if they leak into open fissures.) He or she will also assess the discolouration on your teeth and determine which teeth whitening treatments are suitable for you.

We understand and support your desire for a bright, white, and healthy smile and will use our proven whitening systems to get you the results you want and deserve.
